This site is a grouping of all three colors of change markers placed as an anchor site for the project. These sculptures are part of the "Exposed" sculpture exhibition hosted by The Current: A Center for Contemporary Art in Stowe, VT. The sculptures are sited along the Stowe Recreation Path that follows the West Branch of the Litte River. This site has a number of significant signs of ecological change. Much of the riverside is dominated by Knotweed, which is a disruptive invasive species that chokes out other plants and reduces diversity. There are some visible attempts at removing and managing the spread of knotweed. There are also several places where riparian (riverside) native plant communities are growing and doing well. Maintaining a healthy and diverse ecosystem is vital to an ecosystems resilience in the face of increasing temperature and periodic flooding due to anthropogenic climate change. Stowe is also home to a premiere ski resort and tourist economy that will be impacted be climate change. Imagining what changes may come and actively planning for future ecological resilience will assure the continued health of this community.
